Snowy Duck Shit (Dan Cong- Ya Shi Xiang) - 雪片鸭屎香
A unique winter Ya Shi Xiang Dancong Oolong tea ( also known as Xue Pian Duck Shit ) with typical large dark leaves. With steeping, a strong orchid aroma instantly comes out with slight creamy flavour. The liquid first appears to be light and yellow, and slowly turns warmer after each brewing. The leaves then reveal their natural green colour with a reddish outer layer.

Chinese name: Xue Pian Ya Shi Xiang 雪片鸭屎香
Known as “Duck Shit Scent,” this Dancong carries a name wrapped in folklore: some say it refers to the historical use of duck manure as fertilizer, while others claim the farmers who discovered this cultivar gave it an off‑putting name to prevent other farmers from cultivating it.
A Dancong from Phoenix Mountain (凤凰山) in Chaozhou, it exemplifies the region’s famously expressive oolongs—often likened to “drinkable perfume.” This particular harvest is picked in winter; the winter harvest (nickname: snowflake) is one of the unique productions known for its strong aroma. This “snowy” oolong quietly rests and develops its fragrance, offering an enjoyable tasting experience through both aroma and flavor.
Duck Shit Scent is one of the ten signature fragrances of Phoenix Dancong. The term dancong (单丛) means “single bush,” indicating that each aroma typically arises from a distinct cultivar. Importantly, these teas are never artificially scented: their unique fragrances are natural expressions of each cultivar, brought forward by skilled processing and careful brewing.

We recommend a steeping temperature of 100 °C (212 °F) to fully stimulate the strong aroma of this Dan Cong Oolong tea. Take 5 grams of tea with 110ml water to steep for 3 seconds. Or increase to 5 grams with a shorter steeping time if you prefer a stronger tea. The tea can be re-steeped 5-7 times when using a tea egg, filter bag, or Chinese Gaiwan/Yixing teapot. But please remove the tea leaves quickly to avoid stuffing. This tea is best suited for consuming in small cups to appreciate the tea with patience.
