A Ceremony Through Tea, Meditation & Sound (12-09-26 | Amsterdam)
Step away from the pace of everyday life and enter an intimate, meditative world shaped by Chinese tea ceremony, guided meditation and live ambient music.
Chinese tea practitioner Shen, meditation guide Chloë, and guzheng musician Shuqin come together to create one continuous sensory journey. Through tea, breath, reflection and sound, they invite you to slow down, open your senses and return more fully to the present moment.
Inspired by Cha Dao, the Way of Tea, this experience draws on the ancient Chinese wisdom of cultivating awareness through simple, attentive gestures. Tea becomes more than something we drink: it becomes a way to pause, listen inwardly and reconnect with ourselves.
Throughout the journey, Shen will guide a traditional Chinese tea ceremony, known as Gong Fu Cha, preparing a carefully selected sequence of fine Chinese teas. Each tea will unfold through a series of short infusions, gradually revealing new layers of aroma, flavour, texture and aftertaste.
Alongside the tea, Chloë will guide moments of meditation, embodied awareness and gentle reflection. Through breath, stillness and attention to the body, she will help create space to soften, settle and notice what is present within.
Shuqin’s live ambient music will flow through the experience on the guzheng, an ancient Chinese zither with a history spanning more than 2,500 years. Traditionally tuned to a pentatonic scale, its 21 strings create naturally harmonious and deeply expressive tones. Gentle and flowing, its sound can evoke running water, a soft breeze and the stillness of mountains, surrounding the journey with an immersive landscape of sound.
Rather than three separate elements, tea, meditation and music will move together throughout the morning, creating a shared unique rhythm of tasting, listening, breathing and reflecting.
Inspired by the transition between seasons, the journey offers space to notice the changes taking place both in nature and within ourselves. You will be invited to pause, recognise what may be coming to an end and gently make space for what is beginning to emerge.
